TENNESSEE's Upcoming events near our parks: Western Region♦ Southern Heritage Football Classic Thousands come back annually to Memphis, Tennessee, USA for the lively tailgate parties; to cheer on historically black college rival football teams; to tee off in the celebrity golf tournament; and more at the South Heritage Football Classic. Enjoy live music and the outdoors. ♦ Choctaw Festival This festival celebrates the Choctaw Indian heritage with traditional arts, food, music, dance and a stickball tournament. Held annually at the Chucalissa Museum. ♦ Elvis Week The week is filled with many Elvis-themed events, including an Elvis Dance Party, Conversations on Elvis, Elvis Bingo, Graceland Scavenger Hunt, live entertainment and more. Held annually each August at Graceland. ♦ Tennessee Week for the Animals A statewide event that will include statewide pet adoptions, zoo events, art contests, school/library events and musical concerts. Leaders from national animal organizations will be coming to the state. ♦ Christmas at Graceland Life-size nativity scene and the winding driveway outlined in hundreds of blue lights are two of the many spectacular scenes to see at Graceland during the holiday season. ♦ Auto Zone Liberty Bowl Football Classic Featuring the best teams from Conference USA and the Mountain West Conference in a tradition-rich bowl game. ♦ Memphis Italian Festival This unique festival features authentic Italian cuisine, arts & crafts, dance, music, and heritage. Don't miss the spaghetti gravy contest! ♦ Between Midnight & Day 60 black-and-white photographs of blues legends spanning 40 years. Subjects include B.B. King, Albert King, Etta James, Ray Charles, Mick Jagger, Eric Clapton, Son House, Muddy Waters and dozens of others. ♦ Music and Heritage Festival Held annually in September, this festival celebrates the diversity of Memphis music with music, art, dance, and food. Festival goers can park throughout the downtown area and catch a trolley to the festival. ♦ Midsouth Air Show Don't miss this heart pounding, ground shaking excitement for all ages! Middle Region♦ Riverfest Riverfest features some of the areas most talented musicians and national headlining entertainment on three stages at the McGregor Park RiverWalk. ♦ Cumberland County Fair Features livestock, entertainment, concessions, carnival, thrilling rides, food, and more. ♦ Oktoberfest Great German/Polka music for your dancing and listening pleasure. Great German food and beverages. Rated one of the most authentic Oktoberfests in the area. Held annually in October. ♦ Williamson County Fair Nine great days of fun at the first fair to be held in Williamson County in more than 50 years. Activities, entertainment, exhibits and competitions. ♦ St. Patrick's Brew, Stew & Stroll Irish beer tasting in 20 stores. Tickets $25 in advance or $30 at the door. ♦ Wilson County Fair Tennessee's largest county fair with more than 240 acres of fun, five stages of entertainment, livestock shows, a Midway and hundreds of exhibits. ♦ Nashville Folk Festival The festival site is located at the old Jordon Farm west on Flatwood Road 1.8 miles south of Cedars of Lebanon State Park off US 231. Held annually in September at Old Jordan Farm. ♦ Toyota Tundra 200 NASCAR Craftsman Truck Race Spotlights America¿s fastest-growing racing series, 200 miles of door-to-door bumping and grinding that has made NASCAR¿s Craftsman Truck Series synonymous with hard racing, heart-pounding action flag-to-flag. Held annually in August at the Nashville Super Speedway. ♦ "Smokin' on the Square" BBQ Festival A parade kicks off the days festivities followed by live music, games for children, fine arts & crafts and lots of food and fun in the Fred Deadman Park. Held annually in August. Held annually in September at the Riverfront Park. ♦ Grand Ole Opry Annual Birthday Bash The Opry celebrates its annual birthday with star-packed shows and birthday excitement in the Opry Plaza. Held annually in October. ♦ Country Music Marathon The race will start at Centennial Park in Nashville at 7:00am. The finish line is located at the Coliseum in downtown Nashville. Enjoy great music such as country, rock, jazz, blues, swing and more. ♦ Tennessee Walking Horse National Celebration Nearly a quarter of a million tickets are sold to fans from more than 40 states -- fans that travel to Shelbyville, Tennessee to enjoy the excitement of the Tennessee Walking Horse and its National Celebration. Held annually at the end of August and beginning of September at The Celebration Grounds. Eastern Region♦ Bicycle Ride Across Tennessee Tennessee is the only place where BRAT is a good thing. The bicycle ride across Tennessee (BRAT) is a challenging 300+ mile bike tour that begins in Chattanooga. Every year in September. ♦ Taste of Autumn Benefit Area restaurants join together at the Gatlinburg Convention Center to offer appetizers, entree, and dessert selections. Over thirty-five restaurants to sample from while benefiting the United Way. Held in September. ♦ Smoky Mountain Winterfest The gateway towns to the Smokies turn into a winter wonderland with over two million lights and fantastic displays throughout. Includes special events. Held in November through February in the towns of Gatlinburg, Sevierville & Pigeon Forge. ♦ Gatlinburg Chili Cook-Off Find your favorite chili from over twenty-five recipes, and help to select this years "Peoples' Choice" Award winner. Fantastic fireworks show, great sounds of live entertainment, and a street party to remember. Held on River Road in front of Ripley¿s Aquarium, the Winterfest Kick-Off features more than twenty chili vendors and attracts chili connoisseurs from all over the State. Held in November. ♦ Tennessee State BBQ & Fall Festival This is a Kansas City Barbecue Society sanctioned event. An arts & crafts show, live music including bluegrass, gospel, and brass. A great variety of food, including a hotdog and ice cream eating championship. Fun for the entire family. Held in October at the Lenoir City Park. ♦ Dollywood's Smoky Mountain Christmas Festival Dollywood shines brightly with 3.5 million lights illuminating this Smoky Mountain family adventure. Held annually November through December at the Dollywood Theme Park. ♦ Dumplin' Valley Bluegrass Festival Experience great bluegrass music at the foothills of the Great Smoky Mountains. Enjoy live performances, food, dancing, and more! Held in September. ♦ Spurin' S Rodeo Come see our rodeo with calf roping, bull riding, and bucking horses at the Sevier County Fair Grounds. There will be 8 different classes with national points at stake. Held in October at the Sevier County Fairgrounds.
